    The inaugural release from Central Scientific features Josh Dahlberg as The Valley and The Mountain (TVTM) and Detroit-based producer and Akka & BeepBeep founder, Jo Rad Silver. The 7” entitled, Immersion Obscura, is an adventurous experimental outing, harnessing hardware electronics, guitars, and elements of improvisation. The artwork is designed by Chloé Hajjar, a new media artist who uses fifty year old photographs from Dahlberg’s grandfather to create her signature-style digital collage, masterfully blending the old and new.

    Following a brief pause after their last release on WéMè Records, TVTM continues their hardware-centric sound with Experiment Obscura. A flowing study in FM synthesis, the A side is an expansive soundscape imbibed with skin tingling modulation that serves as a fitting introduction to the imprint’s ethos.

    Initially commissioned as an installation at a small Greek film festival, Jo Rad Silver recorded Immersion Theatre III in one take in the old 2nd floor live room at the former Detroit’s Assemble Sound. Plugging a guitar into a synth, Rad Silver strums a twangy line accompanied by sporadic and timely chords and noisy drones to create soothing, meditative atmospherics.

    Reaffirming good things come in small packages, Immersion Obscura positions Central Scientific as a new imprint that is willing to push creative boundaries for expanding minds.
